Miller Lumber Company is seeking a dynamic, safety-oriented Lumber Yard Associate to join our team! The Lumber Yard Associate will assist customers, stage orders, stock inventory, and maintain yard cleanliness. Work is performed indoors and outdoors year-round. Please note that this is a full-time position (though part time will be considered) with a 90-day trial period.
JOB DUTIES
- Assist customers. Safely, accurately and efficiently load customer vehicles
- Put stock away in correct location
- Inspect stock and returned items to ensure salable quality
- Accurately stage orders for delivery
- Maintain yard cleanliness during course of work
- Check receiving paperwork for accuracy, Review materials loaded against invoice or requisition; completes and routes paperwork appropriately
- Load and off-load delivery trucks both by hand and with a forklift, Move product/material throughout the yard
- Other duties as assigned
EXPERIENCE
- Forklift certification is a plus, but willing to train the right candidate
- Lumber, hardware, and other building material knowledge is a plus, but not required if motivated to learn
REQUIREMENTS
- Excellent customer service skills; a team player able to work professionally and positively with coworkers and members of the public
- Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 pounds frequently and on occasion up to 90 pounds
- Knowledge of safety procedures while performing materials handling tasks
- Must be able to pass a criminal background check
- Minimum age requirement 18 years old
